Here are some news stories from our school! Learners interviewed staff members to find out the information they needed.

Band

    Hello Paradise Elementary students. We have questions about band. First question: Why does 4th grade participate in band? Mr. Apgar responded that 4th grade is the traditional starting grade for band. Also the average age is 9 or 10 and is great for starting band.

    The next question is why can’t we play piano or percussion? He only needs one or two piano players so the student can play with one larger group.

    Last question: Why can we leave at the end of the day? It is great to leave then so they don’t interrupt their classrooms.

    This is for 4th grade. Remember 4th graders you can do band too.

Girls on the Run

    Did you hear about Girls on the Run? It is a thing you run around. Mrs. Rogers did Girls on the Run seven seasons.

    They run in different spots. They run in the gym when it rains outside. When it’s not raining outside, they run in the parking lot and in the soccer field.

    Older kids run in the fall and younger kids in spring. Mrs. Rogers said that there are so many girls. 4th and 3rd are in the spring and 5th and 6th are in fall.

Pie Tops are unnecessary.

First, you don't need them because it is hard to set up. Smartphone set up is hard. DVR set up is hard too because you have to set it up to the Pie Tops and your phone Also, you have to link credit card information.

There are other options to order pizza: on your phone, texts messages and emojis.

Third there are many more options if you order on your phone. On shoes there is only a handful. On the phone there are more toppings. On shoes there are less toppings. On emojis you pick your pizza.

Finally that's why you don't need to get Pie Tops.

Florida has Disney World, sports teams, and history. A fun place to go is Disney World because it has lots of rides and lots of games. It includes four theme parks. Also it is the largest theme park in the world. Some college students are cartoon characters.

In Florida their is sports teams and some of the teams are the Panthers they are from the NHL also the Tampa Bay Lightning are from the NHL. also the Miami Heat is from the NBA.

Let me tell you some of the history in the statehood and Civil War. Congress let Florida be a slave state. Also 15,000 people served the army another rezen is at the end of the war they were emancipated, or let go.

Challenges We Overcome

My first and second grade learners wrote about challenges in their lives that they or their families are working to overcome. We tried to start sentences different ways.

Learner 1:

Olaf barks at night. He is noisy and he is also mischievous. One time Olaf jumped on me. One time Olaf when he was little he pulled my hair with his teeth. I folded my arms and my eyebrows went down. I scrunched my eyes. I wish that Olaf would stop barking at night. Do you mind dogs that bark?

Learner 2:

My little sister is mischievous. My little sister takes my toys without permission. Next she pulls my hair. Then one day my sister took my lego car and I told my mom, “Ponla mirando la pared.” Put her looking at the wall. I felt frustrated and I folded my arms. I crunched my eyebrows down. Last I hope my sister stops taking my toys. That will be phenomenal.

Learner 3:

My dog Oreo is hyper. He gets on me when I try doing my homework. One time Oreo jumped on my lap. I put him on the ground. He just came back. When Oreo gets on me I feel annoyed. I clench my fist. I hope he doesn’t get on me. It will be phenomenal.

Learner 4:

Sometimes taking care of baby girls and boys is hard work. My baby goes in my room because she wants to take my toys. She does it a lot. Also when I ask her to not take my toys she started to know to not take my toys. By the next morning she was watching TV but my baby was watching fun movies. But when I went down my baby sister changed the movie channel. I was very excited. I was jumping up and down. Also I was smiling a lot because I was very excited. All in all taking care of babies is fun and hard work. What are you going to do when you are a babysitter?

Learner 5:

    My uncle doesn’t speak English. My grandma helped my uncle speak English. He was embarrassed. We wish he knows better.

Learner 6:

    I don’t know how to talk in Spanish. I tried to say Merry Christmas in Spanish. I felt sad. Someday I wish I can say it the right way.

Learner 7:

    Every time when I speak to him he doesn’t understand me. One day I was speaking and I had to say it two times. I felt annoyed. I wish I can say it one time.

Learner 8:

    My family doesn’t speak English! One time in the car I was helping my mom. Another day on her phone someone was talking in English. She felt confused. I wish she could talk in English.

Learner 2:  

First, Sky Zone is a fun trampoline park. Next Sky Zone has a lot of activities. 1 is glow. Glow is a game where you wear glow shirts and it is a basketball court. #2 is Sky wars is where we fight with Nerf Guns. #3 is ultimate dodge ball. Next is the prices for some activities and the minutes. To jump 2 hours, it cost 20 dollars and climbing to play Sky wars cost 6 dollars and a gift card cost 20 dollars. Next is the contact info.
